I notice an increasing number of cyclists wearing air pollution filters, or respro masks, when cruising Suburbia, like this one from Wiggle.
Can anyone explain, please?
I certainly understand the desire to filter out dust and soot, but in how far does this effect cyclists more than anybody else? I have not yet seen a pedestrian wearing one of those masks, although a pedestrian typically takes longer to travel along a particular stretch of road as a cyclist.
I would have thought the true solution to the problem is either to move out to the country or to help doing something about air (and other) pollution.
