		<description>Personally, I wouldn&#039;t pay a penny for such a service. My points were not meant to stear paranoia. The issue is that too many people just don&#039;t care, and the government can issue a lot of questionable laws under the catch-all umbrella excuse of anti-terrorism. The methods and measures we see introduced that way are bordering totalitarianism. 

I&#039;d be more worried, however, if I stored my (perfectly legal and totally benign, but sometimes very personal) email and other data with a small and unreputed service provider in Panama. Also, the second law of fiscal dynamics holds: if it is that cheap, it can&#039;t be that good.

But that&#039;s just me.</description>

I thought I would volunteer an example of a secure email service: &quot;Sub Rosa&quot; from novo-ordo.com.  All links are encrypted, they encourage GPG message encryption, the disks that store email are encrypted, and, to keep out the worst offenders, the server is located in Panama.  I believe the service costs about $16/year.  They also have information about other service providers on their website.</description>
